Liver transplant team — In February 2017, the liver transplant team performed the first liver transplant using the OrganOx *ex vivo* perfusion device, a novel system that preserves and improves donor organs outside of the body.

The Duke Division of Abdominal Transplant Surgery is actively involved in clinical and basic research that translates to advances and improvements in transplantation.
