New Heart Transplant Method May Grow Donor Pool 30%

A study led by Duke Health physicians, including Jacob Schroder, MD, Assistant Professor of Surgery, found a relatively new method of heart transplantation, allowing the use of hearts donated after circulatory death (DCD), could expand the pool of available donor hearts by a projected 30%.
