The Duke training program is affiliated with the Durham VA Medical Center, a Deans' Committed Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
There, residents conduct preoperative evaluation, operative procedures, and postoperative care on all patients. With supervision provided by the academic faculty of Duke University Medical Center, the rotation at the Durham VA provides exposure primarily to cardiovascular surgery.
