Ryan Antiel, MD, Rebekah Boyd, MD, Included in Chron15 for Contributions to Duke

Ryan Antiel, MD, Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Pediatric General Surgery, and Rebekah Boyd, MD, Integrated Thoracic Surgery Resident, were included in the 2024-2025 Chron15, The Chronicle's annual list of icons, leaders, and pioneers that stand out for their contributions to the Duke community.

Dr. Antiel was among this year's Pioneers for his work creating the Project on the Good Surgeon, an educational initiative which aims to shift how surgical trainees at Duke prepare for a life both inside and outside of the operating room. Founded in 2022, the Project on the Good Surgeon employs a small group discussion model that is focused on moral formation, practical wisdom, and the discovery of the good life.

Dr. Boyd was included among this year's Icons for her dedication to global health, pediatric cardiac care, and service to the community. Dr. Boyd is currently leading a Global Health Bass Connections project that unites students from across disciplines and backgrounds to solve world disparities of pediatric cardiac care.

Congratulations to Drs. Antiel and Boyd on being recognized for their outstanding passions that represent the very best of Duke's mission.
