The Duke Human Fresh Tissue Laboratory is a state-of-the-art medical skills lab that has been used to provide training to medical professionals from Duke and throughout the country since 1997.

Fresh Cadaver Flap Dissection Course

The Duke Human Fresh Tissue Laboratory is the location for the annual Fresh Cadaver Flap Dissection Course, which offers mentoring by internationally renowned faculty, through prosection and participant dissection.

Craniomaxillofacial Trauma Anatomy Course

Our Craniomaxillofacial (CMF) Trauma Course provides the necessary understanding of anatomy and treatment protocols for residents involved in the management of CMF trauma.

Microsurgical Techniques and Skills Training Course

Our Microsurgical Techniques and Skills Training Course provides training in the use of the operating microscope and associated microsurgical instruments, basic microsurgical dissection and suturing techniques, artery and vein anastomoses, end-to-end and end-to-side repair, interpositional vein graft, and neurorrhaphy. Research technicians can also receive training in the microsurgical skills required for animal models in the lab. Feedback and evaluation are provided throughout, as well as laboratory instruction, guidance, and monitoring.
