Plan Your CME Activity

In-depth planning is required to ensure continuing medical education (CME) activities and courses obtain the highest standards and meet the requirements of Duke’s accrediting bodies, and the standards set by Duke University’s Health System’s Office of Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD). Successful CME activities require an active partnership with Duke’s Surgical Divisions.

The OCME focuses on educational activities that demonstrate Duke’s leadership and innovation in practice and education. These activities are revenue-generating, accredited by CEPD, and/or align with the following activity types. These activities primarily aim to educate the Duke, local, national, and/or international provider communities on surgical best practices, advancements, and/or technologies.

  • Educational meetings and conferences offered in virtual or in-person formats
  • Hands-on workshops and simulation training
  • Webinars and enduring courses
  • Department of Surgery Regularly Scheduled Series offerings such as Department of Surgery Grand Rounds and M&M including those jointly hosted with the Surgical Divisions

**Due to the staffing required for planning and implementing an educational activity, submission of a request does not guarantee acceptance by the OCME.
