Clinical residents are required to attend a minimum of 80 percent of core conferences (D&C, Grand Rounds, Resident Conference/Town Hall, SEAL). Research residents are required to attend the core conferences plus Chairman’s Rounds and Monday Chief’s Conference.

D&C, Grand Rounds, SCORE

Protected Educational Conferences (all non-ICU rotations across the system are designed to accommodate residents in attending these conferences).  Attendance is MANDATORY and REQUIRED for ALL residents rotating at Duke and Durham VA (in-person); Duke Regional and Duke Raleigh (virtually), Research Residents.    

Exceptions: Residents rotating in the SICU, CT-ICU, JTP residents rotating on Cardiac, or residents on a Night Rotation.  

SEAL

Required for all residents when assigned, including DRH and Duke Raleigh.

Exceptions: Residents rotating in the ICU or Night Rotation. 

Chairman’s Rounds

All research residents and all clinical residents (at Duke and the Durham VA) not in the operating room or engaged in urgent clinical care.

Chief’s Conference (Monday)

All research residents and all clinical residents (at Duke and the Durham VA) not in the operating room or engaged in urgent clinical care.
