About Our Program

The Duke University General Surgery Residency Program has been training world-class surgeons since the establishment of the Department of Surgery in 1931.

For more than 90 years, we have been dedicated to providing a comprehensive training program. This encompasses the entire breadth of core general surgery and the general surgery subspecialties, which includes cardiothoracic, abdominal transplant, oncology, vascular, endocrine, colorectal, trauma, and pediatric surgery.
