Duke Surgery faculty members are both expert practitioners and valuable mentors. They are committed to providing comprehensive training and education to medical students, residents, and fellows. Faculty members show a high level of responsibility for trainees’ futures, taking the time to develop relationships that support a collaborative learning environment. Residents are encouraged to begin mentorship relationships with faculty in the first year of their training and to develop these into lasting collaborative associations. This direct access to experts allows residents to gain direct knowledge that cannot be found through classroom instruction.
