The Duke Division of Pediatric General Surgery promotes active research on pediatric diseases, disorders, and injuries that require surgical intervention.
Our faculty members collaborate with leading academic researchers and scientists from various disciplines to advance state-of-the-art medicine through innovation and rigorous science.
Current collaborations include:
- Research in conjunction with the Duke Division of Hematology-Oncology in the Department of Medicine is examining the outcomes of spleen surgery for children with congenital hemolytic anemia.
- Collaborative programs with the Duke Division of Neonatology examine clinical treatments for children with congenital diaphragmatic hernia.

We work in partnership with Duke’s endocrine surgeons at Duke’s Center for Thyroid Surgery to treat pediatric patients with surgical thyroid disorders.

We have a multidisciplinary team that works together to evaluate, plan, and treat pre- and postnatal babies with congenital anomalies.

We meet regularly with hematologists, radiologists, and vascular surgeons to provide multidisciplinary high quality care to children with vascular malformations.
