Stuart Knechtle, MD, Professor of Surgery, Division of Abdominal Transplant Surgery, was recently elected into the Association of American Physicians (AAP). Founded in 1885, the AAP is an honorific society composed of leading senior physician–scientists who make significant contributions to improving patient health. Members of the AAP “pursue medical knowledge, and the advancement through experimentation and discovery of basic and clinical science and their application to clinical medicine.” The AAP currently has 1,700 active members and approximately 600 emeritus and honorary members from the United States, Canada, and other countries.
Dr. Knechtle will be inducted during a ceremony at the AAP Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Congratulations to Dr. Knechtle on this prestigious honor!
