How to Apply

Prerequisites

Applicants must meet the following prerequisites in order to apply to the Critical Care Fellowship for APPs:

  1. Graduate of an accredited physician assistant or acute care nurse practitioner program with current board certification 
  2. North Carolina State licensure or eligibility 
  3. Drug Enforcement Administration licensure or eligibility 
  4. BLS and ACLS certifications

Application Procedure

A complete application to the Duke Critical Care Fellowship for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) includes the following:

  1. A completed application form
  2. Resume/CV
  3. Copies of BLS and ACLS certification cards
  4. A one-page, type-written narrative stating why you are interested in our Critical Care Fellowship for APPs
  5. Three (3) applicant evaluation forms (including one from your NP/PA Program) **An electronic reference form will be sent directly to the references provided
  6. Official certification of NCCPA/AANP/ANCC (if certified) 
  7. A signed copy of the Authorization Agreement

Program admission is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of Employee Health Screening and the Duke Hospital Credentialing Process.

Applications Due April 1

Applications are due by April 1 of every year and invitations for interview for qualified applicants will be distributed during the first week of April. Interviews will be scheduled for the end of April/ early May. Applicants will be invited for a personal interview based on evidence of academic achievement, interpersonal skills, motivation, personal maturity, enthusiasm, and a strong desire for further development in the field of Critical Care. Program admission is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of Employee Health Screening and the Duke Hospital Credentialing Process.
