John H. Stewart IV, MD, MBA, Associate Professor of Surgery, Division of Advanced Oncologic and Gastrointestinal Surgery and Chief of Surgery, Durham VA Medical Center, has been elected to the American Board of Surgery (ABS) for a 6-year term. The ABS serves as the national certifying body for general surgeons and related specialists. Dr. Stewart will join the ABS as one of its 8 new directors, serving as vice chair of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Advisory Council for General Surgery.
