The Melanoma group treats melanoma and other skin cancers that require surgical intervention. We are a high-volume center with expertise that few centers can match.
As a national referral center, we receive referrals from throughout the Southeast and the world.
Working closely with colleagues in plastic surgery, and head and neck surgery, our surgeons provide personalized treatment. We perform the following procedures:
- Sentinel node biopsy
- Endoscopic lymph node dissection
- Intralesional therapy
- Isolated limb infusion/perfusion
- Local therapies
- Vaccine therapy
- Whole liver directed therapy with percutaneous liver perfusion (metastatic uveal melanoma)
We have an emphasis on melanoma surgery. We collaborate with medical oncology and radiation oncology to provide comprehensive care. As part of our focus on the patient, we schedule appointments for new patients with all groups on the same day to minimize travel for patients and their families. We review each case in a multidisciplinary weekly tumor board and decide on a treatment plan that is implemented within hours.
