Clinical and Research Interests
Clinically, I am interested in microsurgery, reconstructive surgery, and aesthetics. My research interests align with my clinical interests with the addition of the medical humanities and patient-centered care.
What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a program with excellent and well-rounded clinical training in all aspects of plastic surgery, genuine friendships between the residents with whom I could see myself fitting in, and a camradierie between residents and attendings, all in a great place to live. Duke met and went beyond all of those goals.
What advice do you have for incoming interns?
Never be the only one who knows something, don't let your off-service rotations get you down, and work on befriending your co-residents! Going to work with good friends every day makes the experience so much better.
What do you like best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
I've been living in the Triangle for 13 years now and still haven't gotten tired of it. It has my favorite restaurants, great breweries, lots of green spaces, fun entertainment venues, and the best airport. It's such an easy place to live with a very reasonable cost of living nestled into a geographically ideal place.
