Clinical and Research Interests
Clinically, I am hoping to specialize in hand, craniofacial, or aesthetic surgery. Academically, I am interested in clinical research exploring healthcare disparities and quality improvement.
What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a program with excellent clinical training, academics, and camaraderie among residents.
What are the strengths of the Duke program?
Definitely the people. There is a sense of community and camaraderie between residents and faculty that is unmatched. There is also a drive for excellence at Duke. As residents we work alongside leaders within surgery and have the opportunity to find mentorship even beyond our subspecialty.
What advice do you have for incoming interns?
Try to rest when you can, do not hesitate to ask for help, and never worry alone.
What do you like best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
I like how easy it is to live in Durham. There is rarely traffic and running errands is stress-free. Durham also has a ton of really good restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, and ice cream places. Lots of outdoor opportunities too which I like.
What do you like to do outside of Duke?
I like taking walks and hiking, but my favorite thing is baking! Keeping a sourdough starter alive is my proudest accomplishment. I also like playing golf; so many great courses in the area!
