Whitney Lane, MD, General Surgery Resident, has been selected to receive a 2018 Conquer Cancer Foundation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Merit Award. The award will assist with expenses associated with attending and presenting her research at the ASCO Quality Care Symposium.
Dr. Lane will present her abstract, “The quality of breast cancer quality measures,” which evaluates how breast cancer quality measures account for patient preferences. “Overall, my research focuses on better understanding the interaction between patient-centered treatment and value in breast cancer care,” she says. “This project in particular focused on how measurement of high-quality cancer care at the national level poorly accounts for individual patient preferences in breast cancer treatment.”
The Conquer Cancer Foundation seeks to improve care for cancer patients by supporting early career oncologists who make significant contributions to advancing cancer research. This year’s symposium will be held September 28–29, 2018, in Phoenix, Arizona.
