Duke University Hospital Achieves 8th Consecutive Meritorious Designation from ACS NSQIP

The American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP®) has recognized Duke University Hospital (DUH) among the 77 hospitals recognized for achieving meritorious outcomes for surgical patient care in 2023. This is the eighth consecutive year in which DUH has achieved meritorious outcomes.

Recognized hospitals are deemed “Meritorious” for their composite quality scores in eight surgical outcomes areas.

The ACS NCQIP recognition program commends a select group of hospitals for achieving a meritorious composite score in either an “All Cases” category or a category which includes higher risk cases (“High Risk”). DUH was recognized on both the All Cases and High Risk Meritorious Lists.

“To be recognized by the ACS NSQIP for achieving meritorious surgical outcomes is reflective of a wholistic, hospital-wide dedication to surgical patient well-being,” says Keri L. Seymour, DO, MHSc, Assistant Professor of Surgery and Chief Quality Officer for the Department of Surgery. “I am proud of our continued efforts and ability to provide the highest quality care to our patients.”
