Dr. Vignesh Raman Receives Thoracic Surgery Foundation Resident Research Fellowship Award

Congratulations to Vignesh Raman, MD, General Surgery Resident, on receiving a $30,000 research fellowship award from the Thoracic Surgery Foundation (TSF) for 2019–2020. This award will help support Dr. Raman’s work decoding the genome of non-small cell lung cancer using biobank tumor tissue to find actionable targets for molecular therapy.

While TSF Resident Research Fellowship is awarded based on the research program, prior accomplishments, and potential of the applicant, they also emphasize supervisory interaction during the application process, and the training environment. Dr. Raman’s research is supported by his mentor, David H. Harpole Jr., MD, Resident Research Director and Professor of Surgery, and by John Migaly, MD, Director of the General Surgery Residency Program and Associate Professor of Surgery.
