What were you looking for in a residency program?

A program that would provide me with a well-rounded surgical education, a place that provided opportunity for me to do additional research in the field of transplant immunology, and a place that had a strong abdominal organ transplant program that I could engage with and learn from prior to embarking on fellowship training.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?

The Surgery faculty are excellent and committed to resident learning. The opportunities for research in a multitude of fields related to surgery or surgical sciences is also a strength of the program.

What advice do you have for incoming interns?

The more promising your talents, the harder you will be pushed and the better surgeon you will become. The first year will go by faster than you think. Learn all that you can.

What do you like best about living in Durham and the Triangle?

The cost of living is very reasonable and there are an abundance of outdoor activities to do as well as a temperate climate all year round.

What do you like to do outside of Duke?

I enjoy paddleboarding, playing golf, and music.
