What were you looking for in a residency program?

When looking for a residency program, the most important thing for me was the people I would be spending the next six years with. Operative volume, autonomy, and the city were all important but I think they all fell second to the people I would be working with.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?

Duke Plastics is at the forefront of clinical education and volume while also giving the residents the autonomy needed to become a proficient surgical trainee. Aside from the residents, I think the best thing about Duke is that you can carve your niche however you would like.

What do you like best about living in Durham and the Triangle?

How close we are to both the beach and the mountains. It's great to be able to take advantage of the days off when they come.

What do you like to do outside of Duke?

  • Barbecuing/cooking
  • Basketball
  • Gardening
