Regularly scheduled conferences of the Breast Surgical Oncology group include both clinical and research meetings and are presented below. The fellow’s attendance at the following meetings are mandatory and aimed towards training in a multidisciplinary, integrated, evidence-based approach to the practice of Breast Surgical Oncology:
- Breast Surgery Fellow Didactic Lecture Series (monthly)
- Multidisciplinary Breast Tumor Board (weekly)
- Hereditary Cancer/Genetics meeting (monthly)
- Research Protocols and Clinical Trials (monthly)
- Breast Surgical Outcomes meeting (monthly)
- Women’s Health Community Engagement Task Force meeting (monthly)
- Multidisciplinary Breast Journal Club (monthly)
The Breast Surgical Oncology fellow will be granted travel to at least one national academic conference during the fellowship year, such as SSO, ASBrS, etc.. Goals of attending the academic meeting will be to encourage networking, explore new collaborations, and provide career opportunities. Attendance at other national conferences may be supported when the fellow has been invited to give a research presentation. The fellow will also be expected to attend the SSO’s Fellows’ Institute, as coordinated through the SSO.
