Research

The Section of General and Minimally Invasive Surgery is dedicated to pioneering new treatments through basic and clinical research. Current research efforts include:

Enhanced Recovery with Minimally Invasive Surgery

Our researchers are exploring the benefits of minimally invasive surgery for complicated surgical diseases like pancreatic and gastric cancer. Our goal is to identify minimally invasive techniques that improve patient outcomes for gastrointestinal diseases.

Geriatric Surgical Improvement Program

Various factors play a role in surgery outcomes for older adults, including co‐morbidities and complications. We’re working to identify high-risk elderly patients and improve the quality of care for them, with a focus on morbidity rates, urinary tract infections, surgical site infections, and length of hospital stay.
