"Charlene is the kindest person you’ll ever meet and treats patients, colleagues, and even my students with the greatest of respect. She deserves to be recognized for being a valuable member of the Department of Surgery."

- Bradley Collins, MD, FACS, Associate Professor of Surgery, Division of Abdominal Transplant Surgery

"Charlene has been working with me since my first day at Duke—she was the first person who welcomed me on my first day here. She has been instrumental in my success here since that day, managing a busy list of research obligations, a steady stream of students and residents, and a transplant surgeon's predictably unpredictable clinical schedule.

Amazingly, she does this for me, Drs. Bradley Collins, Ravi Ravindra, and Andrew Barbas, and somehow keep us all on track with a smile on her face. I’ve heard unprompted feedback from students, staff assistants from across the school of medicine and health system, and my collaborators across the country about her kindness, professionalism, and competence. She’s the first person I call when I’m overloaded and somehow she can always remedy that. She’s also the person who most consistently tells me when I’m doing too much and need to get some rest. I honestly couldn’t imagine getting through a week without her."

- Lisa McElroy, MD, MS, Assistant Professor of Surgery, Division of Abdominal Transplant Surgery
