Ronnie Shammas, MD, Receives The National Endowment for Plastic Surgery Foundation Award

Ronnie Shammas, MD, Duke Plastic Surgery Chief Resident, was awarded The National Endowment for Plastic Surgery Foundation Award for his project titled, "RECONJOINT: A Decision Tool for Patient-Centered Breast Reconstruction Care."

The award will provide two years ($50,000) of funding to conduct a pilot RCT between MSKCC and Duke to evaluate the potential of using our conjoint analysis to help facilitate shared decision-making for women considering breast reconstruction.

The purpose of this society grant is to support research projects that translate clinical or basic science research findings into clinically relevant advancements or tools with a high likelihood of impacting daily practice and patient care within the next few years.
