General Surgery resident, Maria Xu, MD, PhD, has been selected by the Lunch Cancer Initiative (LCI) to become their 2023–2024 Research Fellow. As a fellow, Dr. Xu is awarded a $25k grant for her research project titled SOX9 promotes a unique immunogenic state in small cell lung cancer (SCLC).
"As an aspiring thoracic surgical oncologist-scientist, I am driven to advance lung cancer survivorship through surgical insight and innovative research," says Dr. Xu. "I am very grateful for the support of LCI, which will catalyze a synergistic and interdisciplinary means of collaboration and discovery throughout my ongoing surgical and cancer research training."
Dr. Xu will present her work at LCI's Annual Meeting in March 2024.
