Joshua Ginzel, PhD, Receives DMM Outstanding Paper Prize

Disease Models & Mechanisms (DMM) has announced that Joshua Ginzel, PhD, postdoctoral fellow, has been awarded the DMM Outstanding Paper Prize 2025 for his research article titled “Nonlinear Progression During the Occult Transition Establishes Cancer Lethality,” which was published in the March 2025 issue. The £1000 prize is awarded to first authors of the Research Article that is judged by the journal’s editors to be the most outstanding in the journal that year. DMM is an online open access international biomedical research journal published by the Company of Biologists, a UK-based not-for-profit publishing organization.

Since 2025, Dr. Ginzel has been a postdoctoral fellow in the Aleksandra Tata Laboratory in the Division of Surgical Sciences. His postdoctoral work investigates how pericytes in the pulmonary vasculature respond to injury and contribute to the lung repair process. Prior to joining the Tata Lab, he was a doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Joshua Snyder, PhD, focusing on the earliest, invisible stages of cancer development.
