"We would like to recognize Dr. Kadiyala Ravindra and Dr. Aparna Rege for all of their efforts and focus on establishing the Robotic-Assisted Kidney Transplant procedure here at Duke. This is a minimally invasive approach and can be a good option for patients who cannot undergo traditional open surgery.
The robotic-assisted surgery involves our surgeons using a computer-controlled robotic arm to perform the transplant. Dr. Ravindra and Dr. Rege completed robot training through Intuitive; utilizing the Da Vinci Surgical System and have completed their credentialing. They have recently performed their first case!
