I sought programs that had early access to mentorship and training in Cardiothoracic Surgery, aligned with a strong reputation for clinical and academic development.

High volume and high-complexity cases, strong mentorship, and a community of learners that strive to stay challenged and motivate one another
What advice do you have for incoming interns?
Seek mentorship early, take initiative in your own learning, and be a strong patient advocate.
What do you like best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
Robust multicultural area with plenty of opportunities for exploration and enjoyment outside of work, easy access to the beach and mountains, ease of living
What do you like to do outside of Duke?
Reading, hiking, homebrewing, learning in depth about topics and skills outside of medicine
