Jim Bennett is the Associate Chief Administrative Officer (ACAO) for the Department of Surgery. As ACAO, Jim develops and leads strategic and tactical plans to meet the department's needs, and designs and implements processes for business planning, financial analysis, and resource allocation across all research, education, and clinical operations for the department.
Jim has been with Duke for nearly 30 years, serving in a number of roles. He first joined Duke in 1997 in the accounting department within the Private Diagnostic Clinic (PDC). Prior to joining the Department of Surgery as ACAO, he served as Senior Revenue Manager for the Departments of Surgery, Urology, Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences, Orthopaedic Surgery, and Neurosurgery, a position he held since 2015.
Prior to joining Duke, Jim worked at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and finance from Long Island University.
