The American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP®) has recognized Duke University Hospital (DUH) and Duke Regional Hospital (DRH) among the 78 hospitals recognized for achieving meritorious outcomes for surgical patient care in 2022. This is the seventh consecutive year in which DUH has achieved meritorious outcomes, and the first such recognition for DRH.
Recognized hospitals are deemed “Meritorious” for their composite quality scores in eight surgical outcomes areas.
The ACS NSQIP recognition program commends a select group of hospitals for achieving a meritorious composite score in either an “All Cases” category or a category which includes higher risk cases (“High Risk”). DUH and DRH were recognized on the High Risk Meritorious List and All Cases Meritorious List, respectively.
“I am extremely proud of our consistent efforts to focus on surgical patient care that have led us to this latest recognition by the American College of Surgeons,” says Christopher R. Mantyh, MD, Professor of Surgery and Vice Chair of Clinical Operations. “This recognition underscores our unwavering commitment to delivering the highest standards of surgical care and the dedication of our entire team to the well-being of our patients. We are particularly proud that we have been awarded this for the last seven years.”
