Duke SCORES Announces Scholars Awards

Surgical Center for Outcomes Research (SCORES) Scholars Awards were established by the Duke Department of Surgery in 2016 to foster new collaborations around surgical health services research. After a rigorous peer review selection process, we are pleased to announce that the 2017 SCORES Scholars Award recipients are:

  • Betty Tong, MD, Department of Surgery, and Tina Tailor, MD, Department of Radiology - Eligibility and Access to Lung Cancer Screening: A Geospatial and Comparative Analysis of Individuals Eligible for Lung Cancer Screening in Durham, North Carolina
  • Matthew Hartwig, MD, Department of Surgery - Transplant Center Variability in Organ Offer Acceptance and Subsequent Recipient Outcomes in Lung Transplantation

Each team will receive $15,000 awards to be used over 12 months to catalyze investigations of key questions in surgical outcomes research.

Congratulations to all applicants on putting forward strong proposals with the potential to advance health services research. Written feedback will be forthcoming for all applicants. Each PI also will have an opportunity to discuss the feedback with SCORES leadership and/or Research Development staff.
