Kevin Southerland, MD, Assistant Professor of Surgery, has been selected for the NCI Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Award, also known as the K08 grant. This K08 grant will help fund Dr. Southerland’s research project titled “Determining the Role of Spp1+ Macrophages in Muscle Regeneration in Peripheral Arterial Disease.”
The purpose of the NCI K08 grant is to prepare individuals for careers that significantly impact the health-related research needs of the United States of America. The expectation is that through this sustained period of their research career development and training, awardees will develop enhanced research capabilities for cancer research careers and be better prepared to compete for research project grant funding.
