Gabriel Esmailian, MD, Receives STSA Resident Research Award
Gabriel Esmailian, MD, Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, has received the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association (STSA) Resident Research Award from the Thoracic Surgery Foundation (TSF).
Dr. Esmailian received the grant to support his project titled, "Promoting Cardiac Allograft Tolerance with PD-L1 Gene Therapy in a Preclinical Porcine Model."
The award provides support for the research fellowship of a resident who has not yet completed cardiothoracic surgical training. During the fellowship, Dr. Esmailian will work under the mentorship of Carmelo Milano, MD, Chief of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery.
