Amy Alger, MD
We received several heartfelt and descriptive nominations for the March 2023 faculty of the month! To nominate someone for recognition, please email Melanie Kirk.
“Dr. Alger has been an outstanding member of the Division of Trauma, Acute, and Critical Care Surgery. Her clinical skills and dedication to our patients are attributes that all of our trainees, fellows, as well as faculty, try to emulate. She has led our Surgical Critical Care Fellowship over the past few years—enlarging the program from one to four residents while maintaining the rigorous and high standards that we expect of all Duke students.
Furthermore, as a former Army Surgeon, she has fluidly incorporated the surgeons at Fort Bragg into our fellowship and helped re-establish Duke University Hospital as a training site for the 18-delta program. As she transitions from this role to spend more time with her children, we are grateful for everything that she has done for our division and its educational mission. I am certain that more great things are sure to come in the future!"
