Advanced training opportunities for faculty are available through the Duke Center for Surgical Education and Innovation (CSEI), the Duke Academy for Health Professions Education and Academic Development (AHEAD), the Duke Private Diagnostic Clinic (PDC), and other departments at Duke.
Duke faculty may participate in the Employee Tuition Assistance Program, which provides reimbursement of tuition for classes taken at Duke or any other higher educational institution accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools with a physical presence in North Carolina.
Duke Surgery Office of Continuing Medical Education
The Duke Department of Surgery's Office of Continuing Medical Education facilitates learning opportunities, hands-on training, and guidance in providing exemplary surgical care to patients through evidence-based continuing medical education. We offer a range of activities including Surgery Grand Rounds, live conferences, workshops, and labs with hands-on and simulation-based training by partnering with our educational laboratories. Our office also provides services for faculty developing educational activities, include consultation, planning, and implementation of accredited and non-accredited activities.
Master of Management in Clinical Informatics (MMCi)
The Master of Management in Clinical Informatics (MMCi) is the only multidisciplinary program of its kind in the United States. The MMCi program leverages Duke University’s world-renowned track record in medicine, business, and health informatics, preparing graduates to serve in key managerial and executive positions, from management consultant to chief medical information officer, across academia, government, and industry. Enhanced Academics in a Basic Laboratory Environment (ENABLE)
The Duke Private Diagnostic Clinic (PDC) established the Enhanced Academics in a Basic Laboratory Environment (ENABLE) program to support PDC members in developing novel research collaborations that focus on fundamental and applied science. The program provides salary support for a portion of clinical efforts to work within a research group for one year with the potential extension based on available funding.
