How to Apply to the Duke Urology Residency

Our Selection Criteria

The Duke Urology Residency Program participates in the ERAS application system.

After ERAS opens on September 15, the application review process will begin. Your ERAS file should be complete (except for the Dean's letter) by October 15. It is advantageous to have your application completed as early as possible. A limited number of interviews will be offered.

ERAS Application Requirements:

  • 3 Letters of Recommendation
  • Dean's Letter
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Personal Statement
  • Medical School Transcripts
  • USMLE Step 1 Score 230 or higher
  • The Program will support J1 visa status for qualified candidates.

We participate in the Urology Match Program, which is completed prior to the Surgery internship match ranking deadline.

Travel and Hotel Information

We recommend flying into Raleigh-Durham International (RDU) airport. It takes about 20-30 minutes to drive from RDU to Duke University Hospital.

Durham also has an Amtrak station if you prefer the train. The train station is located in downtown Durham, a little over two miles from Duke University Hospital.

Many hotels are located near Duke University Hospital and some offer special rates for Duke. See nearby hotels.
