Still figuring this out but I really enjoy critical care medicine.
What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a reputable, rigorous program with a down-to-earth vibe, where I could afford to live comfortably and bring my dogs. So far, so good!
What are the strengths of the Duke program?
From a professional perspective, it's a great learning environment because we have such intelligent teachers both within the department and as consultants. We also routinely see incredibly sick, complex patients as Duke is such a powerhouse tertiary care center. From a social perspective, the EM program is full of such fun, lively people and we all have each other's backs. I honestly love going to work each day.
What advice do you have for incoming interns?
You are not expected to know how to be a doctor yet, that's why you're here!
What do you like best about living in Durham and the Triangle?
I like that I can afford a house - this makes my pups (and me) very happy. I also like that while my friends and I have found our favorite places to go out and hang, there are always new spots popping up to try.
What do you like to do outside of Duke?
I play as much tennis as humanly possible. New hitting partners always welcome.
