What were you looking for in a residency program?

I was looking for a program with a supportive culture where I could learn from the best and explore clinical interests within Emergency Medicine.

What are the strengths of the Duke program?

The faculty are amazing. The culture in the department, both with faculty and among the residents is very positive and supportive.

What advice do you have for incoming interns?

During interview season, remember you are not just being interviewed, but you are interviewing the program too. Finding the right fit is important. Think about what your top priorities are and ask about those specifically. Starting intern year, you have to be humble and be patient with yourself. Trust the process.

What do you like best about living in Durham and the Triangle?

You have the benefits of a city, with plenty to do in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, without the downsides of urban living. There's low cost of living, no traffic, and nice trails and lakes nearby to enjoy on days off.

What do you like to do outside of Duke?

I enjoy taking walks on the American Tobacco Trail with my husband. We also go camping on the Outer Banks frequently and enjoy the beautiful beaches of NC.
