Duke Reconstructive Urology and Genitourinary Cancer Survivorship Fellowship Conferences

The Fellow participates in weekly urology department conferences as well as select articles for and attend monthly journal clubs in both the Department of Urology and Duke Cancer Institute. The fellow also assists with planning and executing subspecialty-specific symposia. Fellows are expected to produce academic projects during the year for presentation at international and national meetings and publication in peer-reviewed journals. There are ample opportunities for clinical and basic science research both in Urology and through our multidisciplinary collaborations.

Research

The research-training consists mainly of outcomes and clinical research, or may include a combination of both. The fellow will have protected time for conducting research without clinical responsibilities. The research training provides the Fellow with a valuable educational experience that will result in peer-reviewed publications. The Fellow will also have the opportunity to work with one of several individuals who is engaged in either the basic science or translational research aspects of bladder physiology and urodynamics in addition to outcomes analysis. Research training includes instruction in evidence-based medicine, clinical trial design, biostatistics, and grant writing.

All fellows are encouraged to submit projects for presentation at local, national and international meetings. Funding is available for travel to any meeting with projects to be presented.
