Going Virtual

For 2020, we made the necessary decision to host the Transplant APP Bootcamp & the Solid Organ Transplant Summit virtually. Both events were live online for an interactive virtual experience with Q&A, but we are also providing the recorded sessions to you for on-demand viewing so you can watch the sessions at your convenience. The recordings are approved as enduring material for CME credit as well. Simply follow the instructions to set up your account in Ethos, watch the recordings, complete the post-test and fill out the course evaluation to receive your CME certificate.

The Duke Transplant Advanced Practice Providers Bootcamp is designed for NP’s and PA’s in the field of solid organ transplantation. This intensive educational program is designed to facilitate the APP’s role in the management of transplant patients. This course will provide updates on current protocols, introduce new and exciting topics in the transplant community, and discuss the projects that transplant APP's are involved in nationwide. This course will include sessions applicable to all solid organ transplant providers with additional sessions on abdominal, lung, and heart transplants.

Learning Objectives

Solid organ transplantation is an ever-changing and complex specialty of medicine. The objectives of this program are to explore the role of the APP in transplant education and management, review specifics in abdominal, heart, and lung transplant, and review developing hot topics in the field of transplantation.

Target Audience

This course is designed for solid organ transplant nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and transplant coordinators.

The Duke Transplant Summit curriculum is designed to meet the needs of surgeons, anesthesiologists, nephrologists, hepatologists, advanced practitioners, nurses and pharmacists. The information in this activity will be relevant to the needs of practitioners who are managing patients during COVID, referring patients for transplantation, and are caring for patients after transplantation.

Learning Objectives

After attending the Summit, participants should be able to: 

  • Understand novel approaches to the management of multi-drug resistant infection
  • Recognize the impact of frailty on waitlist mortality and post-transplant survival
  • Better understand the management of HLA results and positive cross matches as they influence transplant outcomes
  • Recognize management strategies to enhance opportunities for transplantation of the morbidly obese patient
  • Learn how new organ allocation systems impact transplant opportunities
  • Share expert-driven insights into controversial issues, emerging techniques, and future directions in solid organ transplant

Target Audience

The information in this activity will be relevant to the needs of practitioners who manage patients with end-stage organ failure, refer patients for transplantation, and participate in the care of patients after transplantation. Specifically, the curriculum is designed to meet the needs of surgeons, anesthesiologists, nephrologists, hepatologists, advanced practitioners, nurses and pharmacists.
