Microsurgical Techniques and Skills Training Course

Microsurgery uses high-powered microscopes to assist in performing microvascular surgical repairs involving small vessels, nerves and/or other tissues and can be applied in a wide range of surgical settings.

Course participants receive training in the use of the operating microscope and associated microsurgical instruments, basic microsurgical dissection and suturing techniques, artery and vein anastomoses, end-to-end and end-to-side repair, interpositional vein graft and neurorrhaphy. Research-technicians can also receive training in the microsurgical skills required for animal models in the lab. Feedback and evaluation are provided throughout, as well as individual, one-on-one laboratory instruction, guidance and monitoring.

Target Audience

The course is aimed at novice and experienced people who want to train or practice microsurgery.  

Registration

Following four weeks advance registration, the course is available year-round on a weekly basis and runs Monday through Friday. Upon completion, trainees receive a Microsurgical Techniques Training certificate.

Faculty: $2,300

Discount for Early Bird FLAP Course Registrants

Early bird registrants of the Duke FLAP Course (before May 1, 2020) receive a discounted rate.
Trainee: $1,600
Faculty: $1,900

Cancellation Policy

All requests for cancellation refund must be received at least three weeks in advance of the training start date. A $100 cancellation fee will be charged. No refunds will be given if cancelling within three weeks of the course date.
